About the series
Sami comes home to Aarhus hoping to begin again. When his younger brother Idriss gets into trouble, he is drawn back towards the life he had tried to leave behind, while their mother Shanaz struggles to keep the family together. The series draws on accounts from young people living in Aarhus’s housing estates.
My contribution
I handled sound design, sound editing and dialogue editing on episode four, the re-recording mix for all four episodes, and additional sound design and editing on episodes one, two and three.
August Valentin Drenck did most of the sound design and editing on the first three episodes. When his time on the production ran out and he had to move on to another project, I took over for the final stretch.
I worked closely with producer Troels Kampmann Kjær, whose background in music production brought a lot of good ideas to the music and its place in the series.
The collaboration with director Milan Ganesan was just as close. He knew the neighbourhood and the environment portrayed in the series from the inside, and had very specific ideas about how we could make the sound feel authentic.
