Pride of Lions
Immersive Sound, Dolby Atmos & Student Mentorship
Pride of Lions is a Danish short animated film from 2021, directed by Symeona Maria Kanellou.
The film is a tender homage to a joyful gay friend who passed away somewhat suddenly, imagining giving him a few extra minutes and offering a proper goodbye hug.
I had the privilege of participating in Pride of Lions in roles that span teaching, supervising, and creative oversight. I guided sound students from Sonic College through the sound design process and oversaw the re-recording and final mix in Dolby Atmos.
My Role & Contributions
Dolby Atmos Final Mix & Re-recording Supervision
-
I supervised re-recording sessions (dialogue, ambient layers, effects, foley) to ensure high fidelity and emotional coherence.
-
During the mix stage, I led the spatialization in Dolby Atmos—guiding them to decide where sounds would live in height, surround, and object lanes to reflect the film’s emotional tone.
-
I emphasized that immersive audio must support the story, not distract—so every spatial or dynamic move had a narrative justification.
Student Mentorship & Supervision
-
I worked closely with the sound students at Sonic College as they developed the film’s sound design: branching between creative experimentation and narrative clarity.
-
I helped them sharpen their spatial judgment: when to draw sounds forward, when to envelope, when to recede into background.
