Nomads
Re-Recording, Dolby Atmos & Student Mentorship
Nomads is a Danish short animated film (≈ 8 min) directed by Anna Rueskov Schleicher.
The film’s premise:
In a barren landscape where humanity seems to be at odds with the elements, a sick woman leaves the group with her pack animal.
I contributed to Nomads as a teacher and supervisor during its post-production phase — guiding the sound students from Sonic College through the process of sound design, and overseeing the re-recording and final mix in Dolby Atmos.
My Role & Contributions
Dolby Atmos Final Mix & Re-recording Oversight
-
I supervised the re-recording sessions, ensuring all dialogue, foley, atmospheres, and sound effects were balanced to serve the emotional tone of the film.
-
The Dolby Atmos mix was designed to reflect the vast, desolate setting.
-
My focus was on maintaining spatial clarity and emotional depth, ensuring the immersive format elevated the storytelling rather than overpowering it.
-
Downmix compatibility (stereo / 5.1) was continuously tested to guarantee that the soundscape retained its integrity across playback formats.
Student Supervision & Mentorship
-
I worked closely with the Sonic College sound team throughout their creative process, offering both technical and artistic feedback.
-
Beyond the practical mix, I aimed to teach them how to think about sound as narrative — how each element can carry meaning through its placement, tone, and movement.
